                                    CHANGES

The Star Trek LogBook, the Babylon 5 Chronicle and the files comprising the
BritSF LogBook Project are now published on a quarterly basis only. Tentative
release dates for the remainder of 1994 are 30 July and 29 October. These files
will be released together until further notice.

Time constraints have necessitated some cutbacks in various areas of the
LogBook/Chronicle. The Babylon 5 Chronicle's Encyclopedia will only appear in
the January edition. The Star Trek Reference Files have been discontinued since
the new "Okudapedia" covers that material in more than adequate detail; the only
edge that REFFILES.TXT has anymore is being slightly more up-to-date, and the
authors of the Trek Encyclopedia all but assure us that further updates will be
forthcoming, so even that will be a minimal edge. (Rest assured, however, I
have not deleted the file from my hard drive, I'm just waiting until it will be
of more use to everyone. Additionally, due to the MASSIVE size of the BRITINDX
file, it may also become a yearly or bi-yearly feature.

With luck, the Red Dwarf SmegBook may be completed in time for the July
edition. I haven't gotten much work done on it due to professional and personal
commitments, plus I have yet to send off for my season 6 dubs! 8-{ Once this
file is done, however, you loyal smegheads out there should get a major kick out
of it - I'm trying to do the show justice by making the episode guide almost as
much fun as the series itself!

I'm also hoping to track down Dennis McCarthy for a follow-up interview to
last July's fascinating in-depth discussion of Trek and other TV music scoring
in general, and, if I can get in contact with his representation, possibly Jay
Chattaway as well. If these interviews can be arranged, they will be for the
LogBook only, not for the "great unwashed" radio audiences of the northwest
Arkansas area, and may be more interesting to dedicated Trek fans than before!
Stay tuned for further developments.

Hopefully the changes in the release schedule and the format of this
publication won't inconvenience or displease anyone. It's actually a credit to
everyone out there who reads the Trek LogBook that it's too much work for me to
release it on a monthly or bi-monthly basis! You want a thorough reference to
the shows, and this new schedule will allow me to continue to provide this for
you. I also want to do the other shows I'm now covering justice, especially
Babylon 5, which promises to be an intricate saga worth as much attention to
detail as the Star Trek universe.

Finally, thanks to everyone out there who has supported the Star Trek LogBook
over the years, and to those who supported the idea of similar files covering
Babylon 5 and the British sci-fi series. There are those who have offered some
corrections when needed (and believe me, it was MOST appreciated!), and those
who have also given me feedback on various aspects of the LogBook, and still
others who have sent very nice thank-you notes (all of which I keep on file, by
the way!). Thanks to you guys who have made it known that this publication is
read and appreciated, I've had a very good reason to stay up some late nights to
keep it going despite the fact that I have achieved the holy grail of Trek
fandom legend and "gotten a life." As long as you're out there perusing this
file, whoever you are, I'll be here updating and expanding it!

                                                                  - Earl Green

* The animated Classic Trek series, the various comic books, and the Pocket
Books novels are neither covered nor mentioned herein; it simply would've
taken too long, and I didn't have access to all of the material anyway. The
same goes for original Blake's 7 and Doctor Who "New Adventures" stories,
the Hitchhiker's Guide books and radio serials, and novelizations of Doctor
    Who or Red Dwarf stories.
* The Trek movies, in this guide, are treated like additional episodes of
their respective series. All episodes of all series covered by this
publication are listed by order of broadcast, not production.
* The general format of the episode guides in this publication is based on the
"Doctor Who Programme Guide" and the "Doctor Who Terrestrial Index," both by
    Jean-Marc Lofficier.

                   <=-=  THANKS AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS  =-=>
My heartfelt and infinite thanks go out to:

* Fred Ayers (Sysop of Paradox of Arkansas, the LogBook/Chronicle's home base
  system)
* Russ Koopman (SysOp of Serial Connection and local telecomputing innovator)
* Steve Prado (SysOp of Jackalope Junction - nee Pseudocode - and among the last
of the once-numerous local Apple loyalists)
* Robert Heyman (star of JCC and discoverer of numerous articles, news clips and
sundry other useful sources of neat information)
* Joe Siegler, Cindy Hill, David Ewing, Dean Adams, Mark Holtz and Mike Brown
(for unearthing and posting bits of obscure but infinitely helpful and
interesting information - also, Mark's own impressive Star Trek List of Lists
  publication is VERY highly recommended!)
* Dennis McCarthy (for still more fascinating information and seven years of
  memorable music)
* Shane Vaughn, Larry Ruth, Doug Deutsch, Ray Costa and all at GNP Crescendo
Records (for putting me in touch with Dennis)
* Robert Parson (for turning me on to Babylon 5 and for forking over the
wonderful Classic Trek Concordance - much appreciated, sir!)
* Joe Siegler and Steve Quarrella (for importing Red Dwarf into Arkansas - my
  endless gratitude, guys!)
* Joe Salemi and Joe Siegler (present and past Moderators of the FidoNet STTNG
  topic)
* Ray Brown and Cindy Hill (Moderators of the Fido STDSN topic)
* Mark Holtz again (who has begun feeding the LogBook into the TFDN)
* Dave Thomer (yet another JCC-ite who once reminded me that Kirk sent landing
parties and never once, in his career, uttered the words "away team")
* ALL of the SysOps in the Ft. Smith area, plus SysOps across the country and
around the world (for not only helping boost this file to international
distribution, but also for endeavoring to further the hobby of modeming)
* all the users who participate in the various Fido Star Trek echoes

The files constituting this publication are to be distributed solely in the
public domain! The author makes no attempt - in using the names described
herein - to supercede the copyrights of the respective copyright holders, nor
are these files officially sanctioned, licensed, or endorsed by the shows'
creators or producers.
Another request I'd like to make to users and SysOps alike is that these
files be kept TOGETHER. This goes especially for SysOps and users who relay
files from one BBS to another. If you're not going to bother to keep them all
in one ZIPfile for others to download, just delete it from your drive. I try to
keep the file streamlined, and most of my legal disclaimers, and more important
to me personally, my acknowledgements to those who help me continue the project,
are now in this file only. I don't think this is too much to ask.

All SysOps interested may have their systems listed here, provided your system
carries this file most every time an update is released. Distribution site
SysOps interested are reminded/warned that they will still have to call Paradox
or Serial Connection for the file. You may choose to keep it online in the
date-filename format, the old stand-by TREKLGBK filename, or whatever you like -
there's *nothing written in stone about what the file must be called* (however,
I do ask that the names of files within the ZIPfile be left unchanged). Just
let me know the specs of your system (see above list for examples) and your
filename for the LogBook/Chronicle, and I'll be happy to add your board to the
list!
